Policies

The Policy page is where your policy lives: its credits, plans, entitlements, and prices. Every change goes into a draft first. Nothing reaches your app until you publish it.

The draft

Each workspace has one draft per mode (test and live), shared by everyone editing it, Dot included. When a teammate or Dot saves, your view updates. The line at the top says what state it's in:

  • Unpublished draft, saved by whom and when, with how many lines changed (click it to see them).
  • Published, no unpublished changes (or Live, ... in live mode).
  • Nothing published yet.

Edit it in any tab, in Code, or by asking Dot. Discard draft throws away every unpublished change, including Dot's; what's published stays as it is.

Editing the test draft needs the Publish test policies permission, and the live draft Publish live policies (see Team). Without it, the page is View only.

Templates

An empty policy offers starter templates, each a complete policy showing a different side of Limitr:

TemplateShows
AI appFree, Pro, and Team plans with monthly token limits, overage, seats, a token top-up, and a trial
APIFree daily requests, pay as you go with tiered prices, and a plan with a base fee, included requests, and a rate limit
Seats and featuresPer-seat plans billed as seats are added, storage limits, features by plan, and a feature rolling out to a quarter of teams
CreditsAgent tasks priced in credits: credits each month, packs to buy, and a free allowance

Preview shows a template's code; Use this puts it in the draft. Once the policy isn't empty, the Templates button offers them again, replacing the draft (what's published stays, and History has every version).

The tabs

  • Entitlements. What each plan allows, as a grid: one row per entitlement, one column per plan. Filter by kind (metered or on or off), by what happens past the limit, billable or control only, by credit, or what changed in the draft. Click a cell to edit that plan's entitlement: its limit and credit, what happens past the limit (Deny (hard), Allow and bill (soft), or Only record), when it resets, a rate limit, access (on, tracked for rollouts, hidden from pricing pages), and billing (billable, and charged at the end of the period or as it happens, prorated).
  • Plans. Each customer is on one plan. Set the label, billing period, trial, the default plan, and the plan fee, and manage its topups (credit packages a customer buys or gets with the plan). Drag plans to set the order your pricing page shows them in.
  • Credits. What's metered, what one unit costs you, and what you charge for it: flat, tiered, volume, or stairstep prices, and your cost per unit. The Exchange section sets currencies and how grants are drawn down.
  • Pricing rules (Enterprise). Prices for a segment of customers on top of the list prices, Ex. 20% off AI tokens for a startup program. The highest-priority rule a customer matches wins.
  • Code. The policy as Stof. Edits here change the same draft; Ctrl S (Cmd S) saves. Rules and cost functions (Ex. a rollout or a per-model cost) are edited here.
  • Changes. The draft compared with what's published here, or with the other mode's.
  • History. Every published version with its message, who published it, and when. Open one to compare it, and Restore puts it in the draft (nothing goes live until you publish).

For what each field means, see the policy reference.

Publishing

Publish to test (or Publish in live mode) shows the changes and asks what changed and why. Engines connected with a key for that mode get the new version on their own, and new usage follows it. Publishing starts on Pay as you go; on Free you can build and validate a policy, and publish once you upgrade.

Copy test to live

In test mode, Copy to live puts the published test version (or the test draft) into the live draft, so you can try a change on test customers first. If the live draft has its own unpublished changes, copying replaces them, and the dialog says so. Then review and publish in live mode. This needs Publish live policies.
